Lulled into a false sense of autumn, Eastern Ontarians were shocked to see their lawns dusted in white, one mid-October morning.
The cold, white crystals stretching across my lawn this morning reminded me that winter is coming. Winter is aptly used to describe the difficult times we often face, and autumn can be challenging as it leads into the cold. We feel the stress of leaving lazy summer days and holidays behind, and we must get back to the routine of life.
As we trudge deeper into autumn, with winter now clearly in our sights, take some time away from the routine. Do something different. Spend some time with a friend. Most importantly, connect with your Saviour. Draw on Him to strengthen you as you head into the coming winter.
If you’re able, come to the retreat next weekend (Oct 26-28). We are going to kick back and relax while reconnecting with each other and drawing near to our Saviour. The theme is BOLD. Bold Faith. Bold Words. Bold Truth. Bold Prayer. You will be encouraged and refreshed. And you will go home with reminders in your pocket that you are not alone, and that God is working through you, even now, in marvellous ways!
This might sound like a shameless plug, and maybe it is because I would love for you to join us for a spectacular weekend! But if you can’t make it to the retreat, find another way to refresh this fall. Get away, do something different, spend time with a good friend who will encourage you, and dig deeper into the Bold Word of God, asking Him how you can be Bold for Him!
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31)
