Winter is admittedly not my favourite season. But I do love snow days! A snow day means everything is cancelled and we can all curl up in cozy jammies and read a book or watch a Christmas movie! Or perhaps you’d rather go out and build a snowman. Or would you spend the day studying for an upcoming exam?
No matter how the day is spent, there is no denying the beauty of the snow. I am so glad that after the colour of fall is gone, and everything is bare and brown, God sees fit to send us something beautiful. The snow brightens everything up and makes the world sparkle!
It reminds me of the old song that says, “He makes all things beautiful in His time.” Just when we think life couldn’t get any bleaker, just when we wonder how we’ll ever get through the pain, God reminds us of His love. It may not be spring yet, but God is here. In the cold trials of winter, He is here. And He will get us through to His perfect spring!
The writer of Ecclesiastes noted that there is a time for everything, birth and death, planting and uprooting, pain and healing. So what’s the point? What, he asks, is the purpose of our work and of our lives? His conclusion is this:
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
We don’t know God’s plans. But we know that He is in control. In your winter, thank God for the snow. Praise Him for the assurance that He will keep you warm until spring.
Keep seeking the Kingdom!
